I enjoyed this class so much this semester at SLCC (Salt Lake Community Collage). I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is looking for a fun, educational, art class and/or someone who loves to learn about Photography and taking pictures. While there is a lot of work involved in this class it is well worth it in the long run. Even though there was way more home work in this class than I had imagined, I would do it over again.
I had wanted to take this class last year, but they were only doing the 35 mm and labs, but this year they offered the digital so I jumped on it and enjoyed every minute of it. I learned that I have been to lazy with the different dials on my camera, you know the ones we set for up close, sports, night photos etc. and then let the camera do the job. Learning how to take a photo by using your manual settings, your eye, and the light meter makes all the difference.
I also liked having the freedom to get creative with things that we were asked to do for homework or just for our next class. I also enjoyed our field trips. I especially liked going to Wheeler Farm which is why I choose to spotlight those pictures (see above) for this e-portfolio and for my final project. I loved my final project! By placing these pictures on a fence type and adding in mini bales of hay really captured the story I was wanting to portray.
I also really enjoyed our group projects. In our first group project we needed to learn about when, where, and the history of photography. Our second group project, we had to pick a song, then take pictures that would mirror the music. This was so much FUN, my group was amazing to work with, and I can now say I know how to make a picture video. This group project bonded us together and we all now have new friends. I would like to thank my professor Ryan Cummings for being such great professor, a person who knows and loves his craft. Thanks to him also for teaching us the ins and outs of photography, for showing us how much fun photography can be, and for making the class tons of FUN.
